Shilpa Shetty to shoot IPL music video
| Shilpa Shetty Wallpapers |
Shilpa who's lately bought IPL shares in the Rajasthan Royals is all set to shoot a sizzling music video to promote her cricket team.
The song an evocative Rajasthani-folk number entitled 'Halla Bol' has been composed by Anand Raj Anand. It will be choreographed by Ken Ghosh who topped doing music videos once he became a feature filmmaker.
Says Shilpa excitedly. "I'm so glad Ken is making an exception for me. We chose Anand Raj Anand because he's an expert at catchy folk songs. I first worked in a film with his music when he scored for Pardesi Babu. I was simply bowled over by the numbers. Today when I hear the song he has composed for our team I feel deeply enthused."
So enthused is Shilpa her beau and co-partner Raj Kundra by the Anand Raj Anand's Rajasthani song that they've apparently decided to shell out a mini fortune close to Rs. 1 crore, to shoot the song featuring Shilpa. Though Shilpa isn't revealing any more, a source close to her says her IPL music video would be better than anything that Shilpa has done before.
Says the source, "From 'UP Bihar Lootne' to 'Shut Up And Bounce'...Shilpa's item songs have always been special. She wants her IPL music video to be her best item song ever. She's working on the costumes, accessories everything in advance so that when they shoot the video in March she'll sizzle like never before."
Close to Rs. 3 crores are expected to be spent on the music video.
Laughs Shilpa, "I'm not revealing any figures, except the one that you'll see in the music video."

David Dhawan's Rensil D'silva-written cricket thriller Hook Ya Crook seems to be going through casting musical chairs. First Irrfan Khan was replaced by Kay Kay Menon. Then Uday Chopra opted out and was replaced by Shreyas Talpade. Now the latest casting glitch in Hook Ya Crook is Aditya Panscholi. On Friday afternoon, Aditya sat down with David Dhawan to hear the script and decided he didn't like the sound of his character.
Says David, "It was a mutual decision, Aditya and I sat together, and when we saw what his role finally shaped into I suggested that he opt out."
A hunt is on for a last-minute replacement. Says David, "But I'm not worried. I'm very happy with whatever we've shot so far. John Abraham has proved he's a pro at cricket. We've shot two cricket scenes with him. And they turned out brilliantly well. Hook Ya Crook has a huge ensemble cast. I'm not surprised at the changes in the cast. Good that they're happening now than later."
Incidentally, Aditya seems to have become the master of opt-outs. In the last one year he has opted out Sanjay Gupta's Acid Factory, Boney Kapoor's Wanted, Murugadoss's Ghajini (where Aditya was offered the title role) and now Hook Ya Crook.
While refusing to comment on what transpired with David Dhawan, Aditya says, "If I'm not convinced about my role then there's no fun in working on the project."

A R Rahman still working on Delhi-6 background music
Barely two weeks away from release and Delhi-6 still doesn't have its full background music. A. R. Rahman, whose schedules went haywire due to the unscheduled commitments in Los Angeles for the Golden Globe, has been working frantically to meet the deadline. While the film's songs quickly move up the charts, the background music still needs to be fully completed. Holed away from public eye in his studio in Chennai, Rahman has been burning the midnight oil trying to get the music in place. On Thursday night, Rakeysh flew to Chennai once more for portions of the background music.
But will the film now be able to release as schedule on Feb 20? There seemed to be no sign of panic in Rakeysh's attitude. "As far as I'm concerned we're on. The background score is nearly done. I'm flying down with one reel that needs looking into. And the mixing is now on. When it's Rahman, you know the pace and by now you're used to it. And look at the songs. The connect that they've found with listeners is amazing. T-Series is not able to keep with the supply order. I personally feel the background score is shaping up even better. In fact we plan to release a separate album of the background."
But with a huge release planned for Feb 20, Rahman's genius is really cutting it close. And not every filmmaker would be as patient and enamored of Rahman's genius as Rakeysh Mehra.

Preity, Juhi, Shilpa shine at the auction of IPL 2009
After a super successful inaugural edition, IPL is back again and this time, it only promises to be even bigger and better. The auctions took place at Goa yesterday and it was indeed a star studded high profile event which brought together the best from the world of sports, business and entertainment.Shah Rukh Khan may not have been present at the auctions but his partner Juhi Chawla was very much there along with hubby Jai Mehta. SRK's team Kolkata Knight Riders' only major purchase of the day was Bangladeshi player Mashrafe Mortaza.
Preity Zinta's Kings XI Punjab may have made it to the Top 4 last year but this time Zinta babe surely wants no less than the top honor. Hence she, along with partner Ness Wadia, was seen aggressively bidding for their preferred players. In the end, they bagged English all-rounder Ravi Bopara and West Indian fast bowler Jerome Taylor.
The new entrant at this year's auctions was none other than Shilpa Shetty, who, along with beau Raj Kundra had recently acquired a stake in the victorious Rajasthan Royals team. Just like last year, even this year, Rajasthan Royals decided to go with lesser known players like Shaun Tait (Aus) and Tyron Henderson (SA).
The biggest catch of the day was bagged by the Vijay Mallya owned Bangalore Royal Challengers, who spent a staggering 1.55 million $ to get flamboyant England player Kevin Pietersen on board. Pietersen's team-mate Andrew Flintoff also fetched the same amount when he was picked by the Chennai Super Kings. The Mukesh Ambani owned Mumbai Indians was represented by Nita Ambani and she surely seemed to have made a right decision in picking up the promising South African all rounder J.P. Duminy.
The second season of the IPL kicks off on April 10th this year, and if yesterday was the beginning of things to come, one can only expect a cracker of a tournament this time too. We simply can't wait for that!!!

"When I marry the world will know; right now I've no such plans" - Katrina Kaif

But she isn't denying that she's with Salman. In fact one of her abiding regrets is that she and Salman have not been able to form a saleable pair on screen. Katrina had hoped Yuvvraaj would work, so that she and Salman would be a saleable pair and filmmakers would sign her with Salman as eagerly as they do with Akshay Kumar and Ranbir Kapoor.
Apparently, Subhash Ghai kept writing the script as the film progressed. After a pause Katrina says, "I'd like to stick to a bound script from now on. The time has come for the entire film industry to get completely organized. A script helps both the director and the actor to connect with each other and with the plot. I'm not going to be shy about insisting on a script.
Tell her she had very little space in Yuvvraaj, and Katrina admits, "Yeah. That was something I grew gradually aware of. I didn't have that much to do. But that's okay."
Katrina's sister Isabel is not getting into Bollywood. Not right now. Says Katrina, "That was something which was blown out of all proportions. At the moment she's too young to take up an acting career. In fact my sister is off to drama school. Something I never got to do and I wish I had. Not being a trained actress bothers me and I am happy that my sister is taking that route."
However, not attending school doesn't make Katrina feel inadequate as an actress. "I think I had to undertake my own journey and do things my own way. I learnt on the job. I think I've acquired knowledge of the camera on-camera. So no regrets about not attending any acting school? If I had regrets about any aspect of my career I'd be the most ungrateful person on the planet. Look at the level of acceptance I've received in so little time. Some people don't get this kind of success after working all their lives."
Katrina is nonchalant about not being considered a lucky mascot any more after the failure of Yuvvraaj. "I think that's just people talking a lot of nonsense. Actors far more intelligent and talented than me have had to deal with ups and downs. Sooner or later I'd have had to deal with failure. No point in brooding about it. I've learnt my lessons from the Yuvvraaj experience."
Commenting on the constant speculation on their relationship Katrina says, "That's bound to happen. If you're a public figure and at the end of the day neither of the party is clarifying anything, there's bound to be a lot of speculation and unnecessary comment. But I'm not going to get provoked into giving explanations. Because once they start, they never end."
What about that damning picture of Katrina with her face covered as she entered her birthday party last year? "That wasn't when I entered the party. The picture was taken while we were leaving. I was tired....and yes, I was disappointed. I didn't want it to be turned into tamasha. It wasn't meant to be. I realize I can't be talked about only for my work. You can't have things exactly the way you want them to be. You can't always have fans and not get blown away by the breeze once in a while."
Priyanka dances as 12 different characters for a song in What's Your Raashee?

But what ensued on the sets of Raashee all of last week would count as a unique occurrence in the history of world cinema.
Under the choreographic supervision of Raju Khan, Priyanka performed to a song that required her to bring all the 12 characters together in all their varying moods and personalities.
Though Priyanka isn't allowed to speak about it, it was the toughest musical challenge of any actor's career, requiring her to swing from mood to mood at the drop of a beat.
Apparently, Priyanka wasn't allowed breaks between shots, as this would have broken the rhythm of the 12 characters as captured in one line of vision.
"Priyanka shot with Raju Khan (who is Saroj Khan's son) for 22 hours at a stretch. At times she couldn't sit or take a breather for hours at a stretch. It was very important to get the continuity right. Otherwise the character's graph would've become lopsided. To dance and emote to a song in 12 different looks and makeup all at once is not an easy thing."
And to think Kareena Kapoor could be doing the song. It's confirmed. The outspoken Kareena says she was indeed supposed to do What's Your Raashee? "Yes it was offered to me and Shahid Kapoor. I'd have loved to do another film with Shahid. But the dates were clashing with Karan's film that Rensil d'Silva is directing with me and Saif."
Kareena also clarifies that her opting out of Raashee had nothing to do with her split with Shahid. "We're professionals, all of us. Even if I'm working in a film with Saif in place of a film with Shahid we're thorough professionals here in Philadelphia. There's no time to party or go out or do any of the fun things. We've been shooting in a tube station in below-freezing temperature and we need to cover as much work as possible in limited time."
Ironically, What's Your Raashee? was offered to Kareena and Shahid just after they split. Now another couple that has broken up is doing the film. But according to onlookers Priyanka and Hurman S Baweja are so compatible off and on screen that it's impossible to tell the status of their personal equation.
"They're laughing and joking on the sets even when they aren't facing the camera. In fact Hurman was there to support her when she did the tough 12-avatar dance act," says a source.
"They're the stars of tomorrow" - Vivek Sharma
Flashback 1998. A soothsayer walks up to Vashu Bhagnani and his wife Puja and makes some startling predictions... The soothsayer predicts: [i] Vashu will face tough times after two years, [ii] Vashu will return to his construction business and [iii] Vashu's son Jackky will pursue acting as his career.Vashu laughs and secretly mocks at the soothsayer's bhavishya-vaani. His PYAAR KIYA TO DARNA KYA has just opened to a thumping response, while BADE MIYAN CHOTE MIYAN and BIWI NO. 1, both biggies, are slated for release in the coming months. How can things go wrong, he questions himself. Getting into construction is also out of question, since Vashu is enjoying his [then] current status as 'Producer No. 1'. As for Jackky turning actor, Vashu feels it's a false siren, since Jackky is an obese child, he is grossly over-weight, a far cry from the 6-pack abs that is a must for all actors today.
'Is he bluffing? Is he out of his mind?' Vashu scoffs at the 'predictions'. But, gradually, the predictions start coming true.
Vashu has a string of flops. He falls on bad times. Much later, he gets an opportunity to get into the construction business. He develops a couple of condominiums and makes money. In between, Vashu's son Jackky expresses a desire to get into acting. He wants to do a course in acting from Lee Strasberg. Vashu is flummoxed.
One keeps hearing, 'Kal kisne dekha?', but the soothsayer did foresee Vashu and his family's future.
Jackky decides to polish himself before he faces the glitz-n-glam industry. To start with, Jackky decides to work on his appearance. He goes on a strict diet to reduce the unwanted flab. He learns everything that's considered a pre-requisite for any actor. He learns acting at Lee Strasberg in New York and also motorcycle stunts in Melbourne. Yet, Jackky is in no hurry to take the plunge. "Jackky told me categorically that I shouldn't push him. He wanted to take each step at a time. Plus, he didn't want one of those mundane boy-meets-girl scripts for his debut. It had to be different," Vashu reminisces.
Cut to the present. Vashu's new film is titled Kal Kissne Dekha and ironically, Jackky heads the cast of this film. Also, Jackky's role is that of a youngster who can see the future. He gets flashes, a la Nostradamus. "I can draw parallels with Jackky's character in KAL KISSNE DEKHA," director Vivek Sharma surprises the visiting media team to Pattaya, Thailand with this statement, "Since childhood, I would get these flashes, which I couldn't decipher. My mother was always worried. I get it even today."
After having worked with supremos like Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan in his directorial debut BHOOTHNATH, what prompted Vivek to work with rank newcomers like Jackky and Vaishali Desai in his very second outing? He should've graduated to a Roshan or a Khan or a Kumar, like other directors have done. "The demand of the subject was fresh faces. And I must confess, the performances of these two youngsters -- Jackky and Vaishali -- will catch you by complete surprise. They're the stars of tomorrow," Vivek states. Proud father Vashu Bhagnani is sparing no efforts in ensuring that Jackky's debut vehicle KAL KISSNE DEKHA gets only the best. The film has been shot at several panoramic locations across the globe: From Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town in South Africa to Wellington in New Zealand and now Pattaya and Bangkok in Thailand. Wow!
The select gathering of media is shown exclusive footage from KAL KISSNE DEKHA and the first thing that catches your eye is Jackky's exceptional dancing. The youngster is sure to give stiff competition to the likes of Hrithik Roshan, Shahid Kapur and Ranbir Kapoor in times to come, as far as dancing is concerned. He dances like there's no bone in his body, as if he were made of rubber. Exceptional indeed!
Though Vashu didn't showcase scenes from KAL KISSNE DEKHA [one was keen to know how Jackky and Vaishali performed in such difficult roles], Rishi Kapoor's statement to this writer said it all. "Jackky's confidence is incredible. He could handle the most difficult scenes like someone who has mastered the art so well, so thoroughly," the veteran tells me.
Vashu has partnered with Big Pictures for KAL KISSNE DEKHA. Sunir Khetarpal from Big was present at the venue and so were actor Satish Shah and music composers Sajid-Wajid, who, one must say, have come up with a lilting score. The songs are trendy, catchy and tuneful and have been filmed with flourish.
In fact, in one of the songs, you can spot Sanjay Dutt as a deejay. Does Sanju have a role in the film? "No, he doesn't," Vashu clarifices, "It so happened that Sanju was also shooting in Cape Town when we were filming this song. It was more of a good luck gesture from him." There's talk that Bachchan Sr. and SRK would be roped in for friendly appearances in KAL KISSNE DEKHA. True? "We might feature them in cameos," Vivek divulges.
Zoya Akhtar's next
Sometime back, there was talk that Zoya Akhtar was planning to make a film called KISMAT TALKIES and had approached Hrithik Roshan for the principal role. Subsequently, she aborted the idea of starting the film and made LUCK BY CHANCE instead. Now that LUCK BY CHANCE has released, will Zoya make KISMAT TALKIES next?
"Right now, I am enjoying the accolades and bouquets that are coming my way. I can't think of anything else," Zoya tells me, "But I am keen on making a love story and also a political thriller. KISMAT TALKIES will happen after those films."
Meanwhile, Zoya's mom, the talented Honey Irani, broke down when she watched LUCK BY CHANCE at a private screening. "It was an emotional moment for her, to watch her kids' [Farhan, Zoya] labour of love. She loved the film," Zoya divulges. Ask her if her mom is planning to direct again and pat comes the reply, "I keep cajoling her to direct a film. She's also got an excellent script ready. But, right now, her sole interest lies in completing the house she's making in Kunnoor," she states.
